| The Bride's Day |
![]() Welcome to the world of planning a wedding.... investigating limos.... organising people, food and venues. It's exciting and chaotic. One question though... In your wedding check list have you thought about a video memory of your wedding day? Why should you add to the expense of your wedding day?
Hi, my name is Aliki and I love capturing on video the special moments in a bride's day. My style of video taking is casual and closeup. Because your wedding day will be full of expression and emotion, this is what I like to capture on screen. The beautiful Gold Coast is the only area I cover for "the bride's day"
![]() There are generally3 parts to the Bride's day. She has to get ready - she gets married (yay) - then she celebrates. You can have any of these components added to your video memory. My goal and passion is to capture the "life of the day" - The fun * The fits of laughter * The friendships * The emotions * The decisions. It's a "real and close up" contemporary style of filming - not formal.
The Sony V1P HD Digital Camera is my chosen "shooting machine." It's a 3CCD professional camera that captures colour and life at very high quality (and in poor light conditions), producing sharp images and lasting memories. I edit video in Sony Vegas using simple cross fades and elegant titles at major theme transitions. Although I have a huge selection of transitions to choose from, I don't use them for wedding videos. Why? Because it's about the people and particularly the bride. I don't believe in cluttering the screen with busy transitions or putting fuzzy white edges around everything. Your final video will have more of a simple contemporary vibe.
Tips for Videos that InspireA video may excel technically, but if it lacks feeling it won’t affect its viewers or worse come off as boring. Since you are the lead actors, here are a few pointers for capturing plenty of life and emotion.
Editing video is a lengthy process, anywhere from 15 to 30 hours. I try to keep the edit flattering for everyone, but if the bridesmaid deliberately does "cross eyes" into the camera - it should stay! If the bride deliberately pokes out her tongue - it stays. If the best man drops the ring and it rolls right down the isle - it stays. It will be kept fun and real. It worth noting that although videographers do their best to make the most of unpredictable conditions, unfamiliar spaces and lighting conditions can lead to lost chances. We work on the fly.. and fly as we work.
The EditIn the editing process I keep it simple and tell the story as directly as possible. What this means is you won't end up with a 3 hour wedding video that puts your visitors to sleep :-) The actual ceremony will remain intact except for "dead air." This would be the 5 minutes it takes Aunty Mavis to get to the front for the poetry reading. If anything happens during the ceremony that you particularly want left out you would have to let me know (the stalker that gives a reason why these two ppl shouldn't wed). All in all, I believe the final cut of a wedding video should last as long as it takes to enjoy a cheese platter with friends- less than 1 hour.
Every great video or movie needs a musical backdrop. The music for your wedding video needs to be chosen and supplied by you. Bringing the disk along on the day or posting it ahead of time, will guarantee your video is finished early or on time.
